KRAKATOA THAT DESTROYED THE WORLD

The 1883 eruption of Krakatoa in the Sunda strait began on the afternoon of 26 August 1883 until in the morning of 27 August 1883. This eruption was the one of the biggest disaster in the world. The explosion was the biggest and the loudest. Anyone near Karakatoa will be definitely deaf. The explosion sounded to Perth, Western Australia a distance of 3.110 kilometers. The Guiness Book of Record noted that the explosion was the the loudest in recorded history. Because of the explosion was very big, this eruption same as 100 megaton nuclear and 13.000 times bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

3 months before the eruption, exactly on Mei, 13 1883 a continuous earthquake appeared. Beside that, lighthouse keeper in Sunda Strait reported that there were a big vibration and the sea was white as if it would be standardized. That report was the the first report how Krakatoa will make a big disaster. Not only that report, 10 ships that sailed on Sunda Strait were the early phase witnesses of the euption of Krakatoa.

On that time, the situation was very chaotic. The earthquake and the explosion continuously appeared like a canon. Then, that event was identified as the volcanic eruption. All citizens were panicked, they were worried about that eruption. So, the government told Mr. Altheer to found out what happened in Sunda Strait. Mr. Altheer eith his friend went to Krakatau nearest point. 

On the way there, they saw the sea was fulled by the rocks and charred tree. Their breath was tight due to ash rain. When, they arrived at neares point, they were very shocked to saw the top of the mountain emitted fire and smoke. The explosion was louder  than before. Shorthly after that, that news reached west country and was posted by The Times. After that, on June 24 there were a report that Krakatoa was erupted again until the most terrible event occurred on August 27 1883.

The effect that occured after this eruption was terrible. This disaster made 120 thousand people lost their life. Even, after that human skeleton found floated on Indian Ocean. Not only destroy the island and the people there, but also made the world economy get worse. World temperature after this 1,2 degree colder 5 years after that. Beside the negative effect that occurred, this eruption made a beautiful natural phenomena. The color of the moon turned to blue and the sun turned to purple. That was so beautiful. 40 years after this disaster appeared “Anak Krakatau.”
